Maryland state law requires Bodily Injury Liability limits of $20,000 minimum per injured person, and up to a total of $40,000 per accident, and Property Damage Liability coverage with a minimum of $15,000 in coverage. In addition to this coverage, Maryland also requires drivers to carry Uninsured and Underinsured Motorist (UM) Bodily Injury Liability coverage of $20,000/$40,000 and Personal Injury Protection (PIP) in the amount of a $2,500 limit.
Maryland Coverage: 20/40/15
Bodily Injury Liability: $20,000/$40,000 Limit
Property Damage Liability: $15,000 Limit
Uninsured/Underinsured: $20,000/$40,000
Uninsured Motorist Property Damage: $15,000
Personal Injury Protection: $2,500 Limit.
Although 20/40/15 is the minimum requirement for auto insurance in Maryland, that may not be enough coverage to properly take care of damage, injury, or valuable assets. Finding the right amount of coverage is necessary to insure that you, your family and your assets will be covered in the case of damages from an automobile accident.
